Obviously because it looks bad – but also because the algae causes damage to your shingles and shortens the life expectancy of the roof. Your roof will look almost brand new again when we’re finished, and the great news is that it will also be almost brand new again—you will regain many more years of use from your roof!
If you are going to sell your home, this is one of those “easy” fixes you can do to ensure that you get the maximum value of your home. A roof that appears in poor condition to an inspector can sometimes be the result of algae, and if the algae is properly removed, the roof would no longer appear to be in bad shape.

I Do Windows Inc. will spray your roof with a special blend of cleaners & chemical solutions designed to kill the plant matter that is growing on and eating your roof

As our pre-mixed solution sits on your roof it makes contact with the Gloeocapsa Magma (roof algae) and begins to loosen the algae’s hold on your shingles.
Without a firm hold on the shingles, the algae can be safely removed by a low pressure rinse without any damage to the shingles or the granules.

No, we make sure to take extra care around nearby plants by pre-soaking them and rinsing them down before, during and after the cleaning process. This prevents harm because the biodegradable roof cleaning solution is neutralized by rinse water.

No matter how severe your case is, the roof will look MUCH better when we leave.  All of the unsightly black streaks will be gone from your shingles within a day or two after we are finished.

However, any spots of heavy lichen or thick moss will need time to die (you’ll see it change colors) so it might remain for a few weeks. It took a long time for heavy Moss & Lichen roots to grow into your shingle granules and they have a very strong grip… it always takes extra time (and sometimes a second treatment) before they will release.  After about two weeks, those thick moss & lichen roots will become very brittle, and after some heavy rainstorms they will finally disappear from your roof.
